Step by step
The whole movement in words, so no part of it depends on watching a video. Described in the standard right-handed form.
Left-handed: these steps are written right-handed, as the syllabuses write them. Read every left as a right and every right as a left, and the throw is yours.
- From a right-handed grip, release the lapel and wrap your right arm around the back of your partner's neck, hand reaching towards their far shoulder.
- Step your right foot inside their right foot, pivot, and swing your left foot around so your back turns into them, knees bent.
- Bring your hips right across their front, further through than a basic hip throw, so their body lies across your lower back.
- Pull the sleeve and hug the neck so their upper body is locked to you.
- Straighten your legs and rotate: their body wheels around your hips like a wheel on an axle.
- They land on their back in front of you. Ease the neck arm free as they fall and keep the sleeve for their landing.
Receiving it
An arm wraps around your neck and draws your head and chest onto their back as their hips come across you; you are wheeled over rather than lifted. The rotation is close and controlled. Keep your neck relaxed rather than braced, ride the turn, and land on your back with your left arm slapping.
