Privacy

This site has no accounts, analytics, advertising or cookies. It stores only the browser data listed below and reaches only the external services named on this page.

What stays on your device

Everything the site remembers, it remembers in your own browser's storage on your own device. None of it is transmitted anywhere, and there is no server side that could receive it. In full:

  • Your theme choice (light or dark), under the key wazabook-theme.
  • Your progress: the techniques you tick, the grade and division you set, and the organisations whose guidance you chose to see, under wazabook.progress.
  • Your video provider ranking, including any provider you hide, under wazabook.providers.
  • Your club's training blocks, if you follow a club link, under wazabook.club.
  • Your training diary: the sessions you log and the phases you set, under wazabook.diary.
  • Pages you have visited, kept by the browser for offline reading.

On your first save the site asks your browser not to evict this storage to make room. That question goes to your browser, not to us, and the answer never leaves your device. Clearing this site's data in your browser's settings removes all of the above at once; the exports on the progress and diary pages write a file to your device and nowhere else.

What other services see

The pages, images, pronunciation audio and flashcard decks are all served from wazabook.com itself. Two things on the site come from anywhere else, and both are video:

  • Video thumbnails. A technique page shows each demonstration's still image, which your browser fetches from YouTube's image server the way it fetches any picture. No player loads and nothing plays.
  • Pressing play. Only then does the player itself load, from youtube-nocookie.com (YouTube's embed that keeps playback out of its advertising profile) or from Vimeo. From that moment the player is theirs and their privacy terms apply. No video ever loads or plays on its own.

There are no forms here: suggesting a change happens on GitHub, on GitHub's own terms, and every external link opens in a new tab so leaving the site is always visible. The web server that delivers these pages sees what any web server must see to answer a request, the address of the device asking and the page asked for, and the site adds nothing to that.

If your child uses this

There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to buy. The site asks for no name, no age and no email address, has no account to make, no comments and no messages, and gives nobody any way to contact a child through it. What your child ticks is kept by the browser on the device they ticked it on, so there is no profile of them anywhere to ask us about, and nothing for us to hand over or lose.

A link from a coach is safe to open. It changes settings on the device it is opened on, says what it changed, undoes in one tap, and carries nothing about the person who sent it or the person who opens it. It never touches what your child has already ticked.

The site carries no advertising and is not funded by it. The one commercial thing on it is a sponsor credit at the foot of a country's grading pages, named on the sponsorship page, which is a name and a link and nothing that follows a reader anywhere.

In the app

If you are reading this inside an app-store edition of Waza Book, everything above applies unchanged: the app is this site, packaged, and it adds no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of its own. What you tick stays on the device the app is installed on, and the export is still yours to make.
