Step by step
The whole movement in words, so no part of it depends on watching a video. Described in the standard right-handed form.
Left-handed: these steps are written right-handed, as the syllabuses write them. Read every left as a right and every right as a left, and the throw is yours.
- From a right-handed grip, step your left foot deep beside the outside of your partner's right foot, breaking their weight back over both heels with your hands.
- Swing your right leg through and lay it as a bar behind both of their legs, across the backs of both thighs.
- Your chest presses forward as the leg holds behind them: their weight is trapped over the bar.
- Turn your trunk and hands so they wheel backwards over the barring leg.
- They fall onto their back behind the line of the bar; keep the sleeve and pull up on it as they land, because this fall goes straight back.
Receiving it
Like the major outer reap, but the leg arrives behind both of your legs at once: your weight is already back, and now nothing behind you can step. The fall is straight backwards and firm. Tuck your chin hard, breathe out, and slap with your free arm the moment your back lands.
