Uchi-mata into Ko-uchi-gari

  1. Uchi-mata内股
  2. Ko-uchi-gari小内刈

The usual answer to Uchi-mata is to widen the stance and settle the weight back. Both of those things make the near foot easy to reap from the inside.

Step by step

The whole sequence in words. Described in the standard right-handed form.

  1. Take your right grips and turn in for Uchi-mata, your right leg lifting between theirs.
  2. Feel them widen their base and sit their weight back to kill the lift.
  3. Put your right foot down and turn to face them, keeping the sleeve.
  4. Push forward with your left hand so their weight loads their right foot.
  5. Reap that foot inwards with the sole of your right foot, sweeping it across the mat.
  6. They sit down backwards; keep the sleeve and follow them down under control.
