Uchi-mata into Ko-uchi-gari. Combination (Renraku-waza). Techniques ---------- 1. Uchi-mata (内股), the inner thigh throw. 2. Ko-uchi-gari (小内刈), the minor inner reap. About ----- The usual answer to Uchi-mata is to widen the stance and settle the weight back. Both of those things make the near foot easy to reap from the inside. Step by step (standard right-handed form) ----------------------------------------- 1. Take your right grips and turn in for Uchi-mata, your right leg lifting between theirs. 2. Feel them widen their base and sit their weight back to kill the lift. 3. Put your right foot down and turn to face them, keeping the sleeve. 4. Push forward with your left hand so their weight loads their right foot. 5. Reap that foot inwards with the sole of your right foot, sweeping it across the mat. 6. They sit down backwards; keep the sleeve and follow them down under control. Receiving it ------------ Widening your base and sitting your weight back is the standard answer to the inner thigh throw, and it makes both of the things the second attack needs: a loaded right foot and a wide stance. Their sole sweeps that foot inwards across the mat and you sit straight down. Keep your chin tucked, do not post behind you with a straight arm, and slap with your free arm as your back meets the mat. Come back to face them without breaking contact, so the reap goes to a foot you already know the position of. Push forward with the sleeve hand as you reap, or they will simply step out of it.
