O-uchi-gari into Tate-shiho-gatame

  1. O-uchi-gari大内刈
  2. Tate-shiho-gatame縦四方固

The inner reap puts your partner flat on their back with you already between their legs, which is the one throw that leads straight into the lengthwise hold.

Step by step

The whole sequence in words. Described in the standard right-handed form.

  1. Take your right grips and reap the inside of their left leg with your right leg.
  2. Keep the sleeve as they fall so their head is supported.
  3. Follow them down, riding forward so your hips land astride their waist.
  4. Bring your knees up tight against their sides and hook your feet around the outside of their legs if you can.
  5. Slide one arm under their head and trap one of their arms against your chest.
  6. Keep your chest low and your weight settled; release the moment they tap.
