Tai-otoshi into Seoi-nage

  1. Tai-otoshi体落
  2. Seoi-nage背負投

Posting against the body drop pulls your partner's chest down and forward over your shoulder line. That is the shoulder throw's opening, and the entry is only half a step away.

No demonstration linked yet, and this is one of the places footage helps most. Know a good one? Suggest a video.

Step by step

The whole sequence in words. Described in the standard right-handed form.

  1. Take your right grips and turn in for Tai-otoshi, your right leg extended across their right foot.
  2. Feel them post their leg and drive their weight down to stop the throw.
  3. Pull your right foot back underneath you and step your hips deeper between theirs.
  4. Drive your right arm up under their right armpit and pull the sleeve down with your left.
  5. Straighten your legs and turn your shoulders to the left, loading them onto your back.
  6. They come over your shoulder and land on their back; keep the sleeve.
