combination

When the major outer reap is defended and your partner is retreating, the two-stage minor outer reap follows them: you chase the withdrawing foot rather than the planted one.

Step by step
The whole sequence in words. Described in the standard right-handed form.
- Take your right grips and attack with O-soto-gari, reaping the back of their right leg.
- Feel them hop or step backwards out of the reap.
- Follow with the sleeve, staying close and keeping their upper body moving backwards.
- Sweep the outside of their nearest heel with the sole of your left foot as it touches down.
- Continue immediately into a second sweep on the same line as the other foot lands, keeping their chest travelling back.
- They lose both feet and land on their back; keep the sleeve and stay balanced over them.
