Uchi-mata countered by Uchi-mata-sukashi

  1. Uchi-mata内股
  2. Uchi-mata-sukashi内股透

The slip: instead of blocking the throw you remove yourself from it, and your partner's own committed turn puts them on the mat. Nothing is added but timing.

Step by step

The whole sequence in words. Described in the standard right-handed form.

  1. Feel their leg swing between yours as they turn in for Uchi-mata.
  2. Do not brace against it. Turn your hips out of the way and let their lifting leg pass through empty space.
  3. Keep both grips and stay tall as they rotate past you.
  4. Guide their sleeve arm down and across in the direction they are already turning.
  5. Their own momentum carries them over their supporting leg with nothing to lift.
  6. They fall forwards onto their side; keep the sleeve so their head is supported. The whole counter is timing, not strength.
