O-uchi-gari into Ko-soto-gake. Combination (Renraku-waza). Techniques ---------- 1. O-uchi-gari (大内刈), the major inner reap. 2. Ko-soto-gake (小外掛), the minor outer hook. About ----- The inner reap moves your partner's weight backwards and outwards onto the far leg. Ko-soto-gake hooks exactly that leg from the outside while their weight is still travelling. Step by step (standard right-handed form) ----------------------------------------- 1. Take your right grips and reap the inside of their left leg with your right leg. 2. Feel them step or hop the leg free and load their weight onto their right side. 3. Keep the sleeve and step your right foot down close to them. 4. Hook the sole of your left foot behind the outside of their right heel. 5. Drive their chest backwards with your right hand while your hooking foot holds the heel in place. 6. They fall backwards over the trapped foot; keep the sleeve. Receiving it ------------ Hopping the reaped leg free loads your right side, and that is the side they hook: a sole behind your right heel from the outside while their hand drives your chest backwards. The trapped foot cannot step back with you, so you go over it. Do not reach for the mat behind you. Chin on your chest, slap with your free arm as your back lands, and let the held sleeve keep your head supported. VI judo notes ------------- The reap tells you where their weight has gone before you commit to the hook: if their right side has taken the load, the heel is where the hook belongs. Step in close so your chest stays against theirs, because a hook made at arm's length has no drive behind it. Hook and push at the same moment, foot holding the heel while the hand takes the chest away. From Waza Book: https://wazabook.com/combinations/o-uchi-gari-into-ko-soto-gake.txt
